Contacts
One person = one contact
How PingsYou merges duplicates, what contact statuses mean and how to unsubscribe someone.

PingsYou has no lists where the same person sits several times. Each email address is one contact, and tags describe where they belong. You pay for people, not rows.
How we merge duplicates
- Addresses are compared case-insensitively.
googlemail.comcounts asgmail.com, and in Gmail dots and “+something” aliases don't create a new person. - When a person already exists, nothing is duplicated: we fill only empty fields (name, gender), merge custom fields and add tags.
- After adding someone by hand who already existed, the panel tells you it filled in the existing person.
- When gender is empty we guess it from a Polish first name (handy for gendered greetings).
Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| active | Receives emails. |
| unsubscribed | Opted out, or you unsubscribed them. |
| bounced | The address doesn't exist or the mailbox rejects mail. |
| spam | Marked an email as spam - we never email them again. |
The contact list has quick filters for active, unsubscribed, bounced and no-consent contacts.
Unsubscribing
Unsubscribe (for one person or a selection) changes the status, adds the address to the send-block list, records the withdrawn consent and stops that person's paths and scheduled emails.
